MTB-Kratertour

This tour, starting and ending in Yaiza, passes through the volcanic area of the Parque natural de los Volcanes. The sections between km 8-13 and 16-19 require confident riding (surface consisting solely of lava gravel). A detour (km 21) to the 445 m high Montana de los Rodeos is worthwhile, offering breathtaking panoramic views. From the parking lot on LZ 58, follow the right-hand path; the ascent is fairly moderate, returning via the same route to the parking. Cross LZ 58 and turn onto the sandy-colored path. Traverse an extensive lava landscape (lava cave at km 23) heading towards El Grifo and the wine-growing area of the eponymous winery. Along the foot of Montana de Juan Bello and Montana Negra, with a subsequent loop around Caldera Colorada, passing Lanzarote's largest lava bomb (km 38.5), entering the crater of Montana de las Lapas o del Cuervo (km 43). Across lava and vineyards towards Uga and from there back to the starting point via the Kameltrail.
