11.07.2010 Bystrzyca Kłodzka - Stronie Śl.- Złoty Stok - Wambierzyce - Karłów - Kłodzko

I started my long mountain trip at the train station in Bystrzyca Kłodzka and headed east. A few kilometers beyond the town begins a six-kilometer climb to the Puchaczówka Pass, 860 m above sea level. Fortunately, I was rewarded with beautiful views. In winter, this place is known for the ski lifts to Czarna Góra. Now a long descent to Stronie Śląskie and further north through Lądek Zdr. After the spa, another climb, this time to the Jaworowa Pass, 707 m above sea level, and a long descent to Złoty Stok. I then headed west on national road no. 46 towards Kłodzko. I consider this part of my trip the hardest, because even though it is Sunday morning, the traffic is the heaviest here. Along the way, I passed a long climb to the Kłodzki Pass, 483 m above sea level, and an electronic sign displaying an air temperature of 29.2 °C and an asphalt temperature of 43.6 °C, and it was only noon. In Kłodzko I took a short rest and headed towards Nowa Ruda. A few kilometers past Kłodzko, I turned right and reached the village of Bożków. There is a large, already neglected palace from the 18th century here. Then I headed west to Wambierzyce. From Bożków, a few kilometers of the route is gravel road. In Wambierzyce, there is a beautiful Marian sanctuary church. After having lunch, I set off on the further journey. Now climbing to Lisią Przełęcz, 790 m above sea level. Along the way, I passed the magnificent Stolowe Mountains with Szczeliniec. From the summit of the pass I turned left and, via Łężyce and Szczytną, made my way back to Kłodzko, where I ended my trip. The Szczytna Kłodzko section is an international road S 8, unfriendly to cyclists. I completed this trip at temperatures above 30 °C and drank more than three 1.5-liter bottles of mineral water.

The route is beautiful, with wonderful views. I must admit without shame that this trip was supposed to be longer. From Lisią Przełęcz, I was supposed to descend to Kudowa Zdr., then an ascent through the Polskie Wrota Pass to Zieleńca and finish in Bystrzyca Kłodzka. However, I lost to the 30-degree heat. The beauty of the Kłodzko Basin is good for the persistent.
