Comana MTB Green 29 km Comana - L. Comana - Pd. Comana - Vlad Tepes - Comana (ADE 203)

Length of the route - 29 km. Offroad / gravel road - 17.5 km; asphalt / concrete slabs - 11.5 km

The tour took place in August 2020. Bike type: MTB XC hardtail (this is not an E-bike). Route marking: blue cross between km 7.5 - 10.9

Duration: 6 hours in my case, moderate pace with frequent breaks admiring landscapes, photos, visiting the Comana monastery, lunch break.

The first 7.5 km are on asphalt, the bike trip starting with a very beautiful landscape - a tour of the Comana adventure park - with a path that wanders along the Neajlov Delta, among lilies. After returning to the village, we visited the Comana monastery - which also has a courtyard behind it (you get there by descending the steps at the back of the monastery), whose alley leads you along the bank of a small arm of the lake with benches among willows and a nice view of the water's eye.

At km 7.5 we entered the eastern forest of Comana - I like it even more than the one near the adventure park. Marking blue cross, a forest road that flows very nicely over the small hills and which I enjoyed pedaling a lot (only in the first meters of this sector - at the entrance from DJ 411, which were on a narrow path - I walked next to the bike, being trickier to pedal); the curtain of light through the trees and the colors in this forest give it a special note. And two steeper climbs here - at km 7.7 about 200 m and at km 10.4 about 100 m.

Between km 11.8 - 18.6 the route continues on one of the longest forest paths that I have ridden near Bucharest - the gravel forest trail that connects the villages of Comana and Vlad Tepes; you can go full speed here or pedal leisurely in the coolness of the forest. In the village of Vlad Tepes we returned to asphalt, tackled the quite demanding ascent of about 300 m from km 20.5 before the railway, after which we turned right onto offroad at km 21.1 and immediately into the forest - continuing on a dirt forest road which I found very suitable for MTB.

The last section of the tour, in which we entered at km 23.7 - takes place in the neighboring forest of the Comana adventure park, the road being mainly downhill to the ornithological observatory, but it also intersperses a rather tough climb of about 150 m at km 25.5. After the last descent I made a little detour to a viewpoint - walking over the wooden bridge with railings to admire the Delta Neajlovului from above from the wooden watchtower (the ornithological observatory is higher up, before entering this bridge) - and in 3 km I was back, on the gravel road, at the place where I started the bike - time for a lunch at one of the terraces by the lake.

A tour that I enjoyed a lot - forest paths suitable for bikes, the greenery of the forest, the lake and lilies, deer - I cycled this trail with a lot of good spirits.

Car access. I chose to come from Bucharest on DN 5 exiting through Soseaua Giurgiului, I turned left onto DN 5A at the entry into the village of Adunatii Copaceni, right onto DJ 412A in the village of Gradistea and left onto DJ 411 which I continued until the village of Comana.
