New Addington Loop Past Botley Hill and Through Biggin Hill
A cycling route starting in West Wickham, England, United Kingdom.
Overview
About this route
This route is a mixture of on road and off road. Definitely best done on a mountain bike although a lot of it is tarmac. We often do this run in an evening.
Â
From New Addington it runs out over the field parrallel to Skid Hill Lane, goes past the White Bear and then turns down High Hill Road which is a) steep and b) unmade/gravel road. A quick right and left puts you back on bumpy unmade road through the woods through to Church Lane. A bit more road riding takes you on to Ledgers Road and when this turns sharp right drive left off the road. The path through here starts off very swampy but drags up to Limpsfield Road where there is a cycle path all the way up to Botley Hill Farm.
Â
After Botley Hill Farm turn left at the roundabout on to Clarks Lane and enjoy the downhill section until you turn left onto Chestnut Ave. The tricky bit to this route is finding the turning off Chestnut Ave into the woods on the left (you'll need to lift your bike over the stile), especially at night. Track down through the woods (often quite muddy), over the next stile and then down the road to the bottom of Rag Hill. A quick left and a right and you're on to Avenue Road which starts off murderously bumpy before becoming seriously slippery and muddy near the bottom. Eventually you'll come out onto The Grove and work your way down through Biggin Hill on road.
Â
When you reach Jewels Hill keep going straight on when the road turns right and ride/push the bikes up the woods. At the top bear left and this brings you out on a skinny run over a field which once you've crossed Skid Hill Lane allows you to turn right back into the field that brought you out of New Addington in the first place.
