About This Route

This is definitely a mountain bike only route taking in Pitch Hill, Holmbury Hill (twice) and Leith Hill.

Very briefly head South out of Peaslake along Walking Bottom and turn up onto Pitch Hill.  After taking in Pitch Hill cross Ewhurst Road and go (probably pushing the bikes) up Holmbury Hill towards the resevoir.  Keep heading South East until you get to the top of Holmbury Hill. Take the Yogurt Pots (I think they've changed the entrance since I did this run) and then Telegraph Road down to Holmbury Saint Mary.  At Holmbury Saint Mary take to the roads until you get to the bridle path off Pasture Wood Road.  Head up the bridle path until you get to the road which you turn left onto and follow it down to the second car park on your left.  Now you're heading up Leith Hill proper, follow the cycle path up to Leith Hill Tower and then down the otherside (beware the descent immediately after Leith Hill Tower can be a bit gnarly).  Follow the path down until the cricket pitch and then turn left by the side of the fence after the cricket pitch which takes you down to the bomb holes, Deliverance (if you're nuts) and then eventually the entrance to the Regurgitator.  At the end of the Regurgitator turn left up the hill to Summer Lightning and follow that through to the Lookout Tower.  After the lookout tower head down to the Whiteberry Road which is part of the Greensand Way and take the roads and trails to Friday Street.  Halfway up the hill from Friday Street the bridleway turns off up a steep cut gully on the left and after a short spell on the road again you can hit the descent on the bridle way down from Pasture Wood Road.  Then it's back up Holmbury Hill to the resevoir and then down Resevoir Dogs/Barry Knows Best which takes you almost back to Peaslake.

It's a fairly technical and very hilly day out.  I'd allow four to five hours unless you're very fit, and very fast and eat technical stuff for breakfast.  For us mere mortals it's a long hard day but very rewarding.
