Chiemsee

Attractive variant of a generous circuit around Chiemsee with lightly sprinkled mountain classification essences.

The Chiemsee always offers something for everyone. This region is a true paradise for pleasure cyclists not only because of its wonderful landscape. Due to the enormous versatility of the terrain, there are countless ways to circle and explore the "Bavarian Sea" - usually more than one can accomplish in a season.

The variation presented here uses the route plan of the classic Chiemsee loop as its basis and stretches far south to Reit im Winkl, before taking the Achental back from Kössen. This has the pleasing side effect of allowing one to tackle, in addition to the Maserpass, the smaller Kössen "brother". While both certainly do not belong to the most difficult "honor category", they provide a pleasant and welcome addition to the training plan (total length of about 6 km, 4% - 10% grade). So, it is really fun to accumulate altitude!

Due to the limited selection of alternative routes in the immediate vicinity of Chiemsee, on this tour one may unfortunately have to "taste a bit of exhaust" at one point or another. But wherever possible, we divert left or right into the bushes and escape from the unwanted metal columns. Promise!
