BL60: Auf alten Bahntrassen durchs Bergische Land

A very varied scenic tour with several railway trail bike paths. The start is in Wuppertal-Vohwinkel. You quickly reach, via a short stretch of the Nordbahntrasse, the Korkenziehertrasse. This is followed by a short moderate climb, then you continue easily on an almost level altitude passing through Gräfrath to Solingen.

There we leave the Korkenziehertrasse and ride towards the Meigener Bach (romantic view). From there, the route climbs again up to the Bergbahntrasse (between Meigen and Müngsten), which we descend into the valley of the Wupper. You should be cautious here, as on the left side it usually drops very steeply.

The valley of the Wupper with the Müngstener Bridge is also very beautiful (a short detour to the bridge park). Here you should gather enough strength, because the following climb up to Berghausen is tough. When you think you have made it, it continues further uphill to Cronenberg and Wahnerberg – just a bit more moderate. Overall, the climb stretches over 6-7 km! Then it goes downhill again, this time via the Sambatrasse – practically through the Wuppertal Zoo – to the zoo district. You arrive there at the Zoologischer Garten station and stadium. From Zoo station, the route continues over several city streets to Vohwinkel station, the starting point of the tour.
