All tarmac, except for a short section that's not so smooth and a bit 'bumpy', which can break your rhythm – for about ~1km on the L132 between the outskirts of Holstenniendorf and Hohenhörn (depending on your direction). (Don't worry, it's fine to ride)

Almost car-free, 'maybe one vehicle an hour' :) as the route runs mostly away from main roads. The main roads are the smallest part of the whole route. This loop was personally ridden, not just 'put together on a screen'.

You ride past fields, and because of many direction changes, the wind can be more or less 'annoying', but the route is also scenically attractive. Training effects by riding it twice, also in the opposite direction, have a certain appeal. Perfect for those who want to time themselves.

Two key points are the ferries at Hochdonn and Hohenhörn. These are just visited :) Good places to take a break, and in Hohenhörn there are benches and sheltered seating.

Also ideal as meeting points for other cyclists who want to come by car or by ferry from the other side.
