Der kurz danach rechts abbiegende Weg „Im alten Steinbruch“ deutet darauf hin, dass es hier früher einen Steinbruch gab. Aufgrund der örtlichen Basaltvorkommen hatte in Florstadt das Pflasterhandwerk (die „Fleeschder Plästerer“) viele Jahre eine große Bedeutung und war ein wichtiges wirtschaftliches Standbein. Der Europakreisel beim Rathaus erinnert an das Florstädter Pflasterhandwerk.
