Cycling day trip from Brixen to Bolzano

Get ready for a scenic ride from Brixen to Bolzano, two gems tucked into the northern Italian Alps. Starting in Brixen (also called Bressanone), you’ll pedal out from a town famous for its medieval old center, beautiful cathedral, and a laid-back riverside vibe. The route covers about 44 km, and you’ll be rolling on smooth bike paths nearly the entire way—a whopping 78% is dedicated cycleway and 95% is sweet, sweet asphalt.

The ride is mostly downhill, too: after a bit of a climb (about 625 m ascent), you’ll enjoy almost 932 m of descent, following the meandering Eisack/Isarco river valley south toward Bolzano. You'll pass apple orchards, vineyards, and have stunning mountain views on both sides.
