Bikepacking from Brasov to Sibiu

This epic ride takes you from the heart of Transylvania in Brasov to the charming city of Sibiu. Starting in Brasov, famous for its medieval Old Town and the Black Church, you’ll pedal northward through some seriously beautiful landscapes—think dense forests, rolling hills, and mountain passes.

The route stretches around 193 km, with plenty of ups and downs (over 2200 meters of climbing!) and even more rewarding descents. Roughly a third of the way is paved, but prepare for some adventure: there’s a healthy share of gravel, ground, and unpaved tracks. It’s a mixed-surface experience, ideal for sturdy gravel bikes or mountain bikes.

You’ll ride a mix of quiet roads and rural tracks, passing through authentic Romanian villages and possibly sharing the road with the occasional horse cart. At the finish line, Sibiu welcomes you with its pastel-colored squares, Saxon architecture, and famous “eyes” peeking from Baroque rooftops. It’s an unforgettable way to travel between two of Romania’s prettiest cities—just make sure you’re ready for some climbs and wild scenery along the way!
