2022.06.08 - Anello Manziana Oriolo Vejano Cascate di Diosilla Manziana

A very beautiful route that develops as a loop in the Tolfetano area and in the Bandita park. The departure is from the FS station of Manziana, and from there one starts pedaling towards Oriolo Romano. Originally, the track was supposed to follow another path, but I had to change it (in fact, it seems like you go back a bit) due to works that were being done in the woods and consequent blocked roads. Upon arriving in Oriolo, a long stretch of the provincial road Claudia Braccianese begins (be very careful with cars and especially any trucks) that will take us to the village of Vejano where it is absolutely advisable to refill water as there will be no fountains afterwards. After Vejano, the most beautiful section begins which develops entirely on wooded paths and is completely isolated. The only company is provided by cows, horses and other grazing animals, so also be very careful of the possible presence of dogs. In these parts of the route, many gates will have to be crossed which must absolutely be closed to prevent the escape of animals. Here you may also encounter wild animals such as foxes, hedgehogs, and even some snakes (I can't say whether they are venomous or not but it's better to keep your distance). Continuing on, you arrive at a path that is quite bumpy and demanding; be careful of the protruding rocks and if you don't feel confident, get off and push as you can seriously hurt yourself. After passing the Fontana della Bandita, you start to enter the park of old Monterano, passing both the solfatara and the Diosilla waterfalls which are worth a visit. From there you continue towards Canale Monterano which is reached after a rather long climb, in some stretches quite steep and then you arrive via asphalt road to Manziana. Possibility to refill water along the route in various towns; the fountains you encounter in the fields do not provide drinking water, but are only used to water cows and other grazing animals. No dogs have been seen, but you should still be cautious since you cross areas designated for grazing animals.
