Frankenrundfahrt Etappe 4

If we are already in the Fichtelgebirge, we should also pay a visit to the highest peak of Franconia. That is why we are willing to take a small detour to head north first. Upon arriving in Weissenstadt, we first tackle the Schneebergpass, taking the short but steep side road up to the 1053 m high mountain before descending to Bischofsgrün. At the top, one is rewarded with a beautiful view of the surroundings, such as the Ochsenkopf and the Fichtelsee. From Bischofsgrün, another ascent is made up to Schwedenlohe to traverse the valley of the Warmen Steinach. Through Weidenberg, Seybothenreuth, and the Heinersreuther Forest, we reach Pegnitz in the valley of the same name via lonely, rolling roads. Here, we can quickly dive into the Veldensteiner Forest. The Grundangertal takes us to Betzenstein, which we already know from stage 2. Following the Ittlinger stream and the Schnaittach, only a few flat kilometers past hop cones separate us from Erlangen and the end of four unforgettable days.
