Ancares desconocido

About this route

The cycling paradise that Ancares-Becerrea comprises is not limited to the well-known Puertos de Ancares, Sierra Morela, or Alto del Poio; there are many others like Alto do Vilar, Restelo, Portelo, Pintinadoira, Valdeferreiros, Pelliceira, Chao de Arqueira, Louxas, and many more.

This route is designed to delve into the least known area of Ancares.

Starting from San Roman de Cervantes, we will climb a bit to 4 Vientos where we will let ourselves drop towards San Pedro de Cervantes into the valley. (This part coincides with the Ancares Warriors.) Once here and after barely 1 km, we will divert again to tackle Alto de Pintinadoira from its hardest but also least known side.

Then towards Comeal and down to Portelo where we will head towards Doiras. NO, not by the main road, haha, shortly after starting the descent we will take an asphalted track to the right which, after passing through several rural nuclei, will drop us at the beginning of the ascent from Doiras to Degrada.

A gentle climb but one I love as we can see Peña Rubia, the 3 bishops, the Mustallar, and the Ancares shelter all the time.

Upon reaching Degrada (4 houses) we will turn towards 7 Carballos and once crowned again, take a track to the right towards Quindos.

Here, again to the right towards the valley of the river Ser, on another one of my remote paths we will take direction Santo Estevo. Down and after crossing the river, a steep climb direction Silvouta through Vallo.

Descent to Navia and ascent to Alto del Restelo via a very unknown side called Pin de Arriba, and after a hairpin turn again a remote track to the left towards Tucende, from here another slight ascent and back down until we go out to the main road from Navia to Becerrea.

We continue towards Becerrea until the junction of Gatín, we go into it and after a few kilometers, the last surprise of the day.

Another steep ascent towards Atorre and Dumia to come out again near the starting point and after 2 or 3 km of descent, arrive back to San Roman de Cervantes. End of the course.

140 km and over 3000 meters of elevation gain.
