The tour starts at the Benediktbeuern Monastery. The Basilica of St. Benedict was built between 1681 and 1686 in high baroque style. In 1973, Pope Paul VI elevated the parish church to the rank of "Basilica minor", thus recommending it as a place of pilgrimage to St. Benedict. At the northeastern corner of the basilica stands the Anastasia Chapel, built between 1751 and 1753, which is considered a unique jewel of the rococo. It is dedicated to the martyr Anastasia, who died during the Christian persecution in 305 under Diocletian. You cross the railway line, follow Bahnhofstraße, and cross the federal road. At the village square, you will find the Marian church built between 1963 and 1965, centrally located with a distinctive pyramid roof. The impressive cross in the altar room is from the basilica. You first stay on the village street and then follow the Häusernstraße, where you encounter the Chapel of the Flagellated Savior in Häusern. This chapel has a very famous big sister, namely the Wieskirche near Steingaden. Also in the Wieskirche, the central point is a figure of Jesus that depicts how cruelly Jesus was beaten by the Roman soldiers before his crucifixion with whips. Now you continue to the end of Häusernstraße, turn left, cross the Lainbach, and reach Mariabrunn, a small chapel with a statue of Mary dating back to around 1880. Throughout the year, candles and fresh flowers testify to the great veneration of the "Patrona Bavariae". You ride back to the Friedenseiche Hotel. At the curve, you turn left onto the small meadow path that continues straight ahead. You cross Oberjägerweg and follow the field path further north, until you reach Bichl on Hofstätt street with the inn Ludlmühle. You pass the inn, cross the small Steinbach Bridge, turn right shortly after, and reach the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception in Obersteinbach, where people have gathered for prayer for over 100 years. Detour: At the end of the village of Obersteinbach, ride slightly downhill in a northern direction. Shortly after the underpass for pedestrians, you will see the Chapel of the Holy Cross, St. Sebastian, St. Catherine of Untersteinbach. It was probably impossible to agree on one patron, which is why the chapel has three. As the manor chapel of the hamlet of Untersteinbach, it serves for baptisms, but also for prayers for the dead and silent devotion. Now you ride back to the Ludlmühle inn in Bichl, follow Bachstraße, cross the federal road, follow the village road and thus arrive at the somewhat elevated St. George's filial church in Bichl. Built between 1751 and 1753, this church is one of the artistically outstanding village churches of the baroque and rococo era. The architecture, design, and main altar are the work of top artists and are of above-average quality. Back on the village street, turn left into Raiffeisenstraße and then continue on the settlement road. At the end, turn left. Just before the level crossing, keep right and you arrive at the cycle path towards Penzberg. Shortly after the Loisach Bridge, turn left and reach the Heart of Jesus Chapel Schönmühl. Located in the territory of the city of Penzberg, the lovingly restored and maintained chapel, as well as the surrounding houses, still belong to the parish of Benediktbeuern. You pass Schönmühl and stay on the cycle path towards Penzberg. At the Edenhof / St. Johannisrain junction, turn left. The beautifully situated St. Johannisrain Chapel invites you to stop for a while to enjoy the impressive Alpine panorama and the view over the former monastery land, which originally also belonged to this chapel. For safety reasons, it is closed. You continue along the road in Johannisrain, which leads into a gravel path. This leads to the Riederer Pond. At the farm, turn left downhill and at the next fork keep left. At the end of the path, turn right, cross the Loisach Bridge, ride directly along the Loisach heading south, and turn left at the next fork. You follow this birch avenue, keep right at the end, and thus return to the Benediktbeuern Monastery.
