Kölner Runde 75

A 75 km loop with about 500 meters of elevation gain and a very scenic central section.

The route is mostly based on the course map from the 'Rund-um-Köln 2010-Challenge 60'. Unlike the original, from Odenthal you don’t head directly to Bechen but first climb up to Glöbusch/Blecher, then descend to Altenberg, then climb again to Neschen and descend back to Odenthal, from where you follow the original route to Bechen.

I always start in Kalk, at the kiosk at the intersection of Kalk-Mülheimer/Vorsterstr. From there, it’s mostly flat terrain up to Dhünnwald. Then follows a moderate climb to Schildgen, followed by a descent and a very slight incline up to Odenthal. From there, as described above, most of the climbing effort is done to get to Bechen. From Bechen, the route is rolling through Spitze and Moitzfeld/Bensberg to Königsforst. Here and also later on Rösrather Str. up to the intersection at Rather Mauspfad (Schmitze Bud), you can really push the pace. In Rath, the direct return route to Kalk is left to arrive at the starting point via Gremberghoven, Alter Deutzer Postweg, and Gremberg/Rolshover Str.
